Submission Guidelines
We welcome original, unpublished manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship. Submissions must demonstrate critical legal insight, methodological rigor, and relevance to contemporary legal issues within Nigeria, Africa, or globally. The Faculty of Law Journal accepts articles, case notes, commentaries, and book reviews.
🖊️ Author Guidelines
- Manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere.
- Articles should be between 4,000 – 8,000 words, including footnotes.
- Case notes and commentaries should not exceed 3,000 words.
- Book reviews should be concise, no more than 1,500 words.
- All submissions must include:
- Title of the manuscript
- Full name(s) of author(s)
- Institutional affiliation
- ORCID iD (if available)
- Abstract (150–250 words)
- 4–6 keywords
🧾 Formatting Requirements
- Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
- Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced.
- Headings should follow a clear hierarchical structure.
- Footnotes only (no in-text citations), formatted in line with the latest edition of the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).
- Tables, charts, and graphs must be properly labeled and cited.
🔍 Plagiarism & Ethics Policy
- All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening.
- Submissions with a similarity index above 10% (excluding references) will be automatically rejected.
- Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest.
- Data, quotes, and previously published work must be appropriately acknowledged.
- All forms of academic dishonesty will result in rejection and blacklisting.

Please ensure that your submission complies with the author guidelines and formatting requirements. Incomplete or improperly formatted submissions may be returned for correction before entering the review process.
⏳ Review Timeline
- Initial acknowledgment: Within 3 business days
- Peer-review process: 4–6 weeks
- Final decision notification: 1–2 weeks after peer review
